Important Notes for Version 8 Upgrades
Before following the steps below you must ensure that your version of windows operating system is up to date. (Version 8 is only supported in Windows XP SP3 Windows 2003 and Vista 32 bit) This can be achieved by going online to the official Windows update site and allowing your system to be updated with all currently available updates. If you do not have internet access in your salon you will need to take the PC to a location with internet access and update Windows. Do not attempt to upgrade Salon Iris without your version of the Windows operating system being up to date.
Please go to the Windows update site by clicking Here chose the the Express update option and install XP service pack 3. If this service pack is not installed on your PC Salon Iris may not install correctly.
If you are currently using a version prior to Version and would like to update to Version , you will need to determine if you are eligible for a free upgrade or if the update should be purchased. Updates are free for the first two years from initial purchase date. E-mail us at support@saloniris.co.uk if you are unsure of your purchase date.
Free Updates for 2 Years
The current release of Salon Iris, Version .., is free for all current Salon Iris users who have made their initial purchase within 2 years.
To use Version 8, you must have a Version 8 serial number. If you have Internet access and your initial purchase was within the past 2 years or are currently on a payment or full system lease, Salon Iris Version 8 will automatically obtain this number when you run it for the first time. If you originally purchased prior to two years ago (that is before 08-01-06) you must purchase the upgrade. If you are unsure of your purchase date, please send an e-mail to us. Be sure to include your complete contact information.
If you are sure you qualify for the upgrade, follow the instructions below:
1. Using your current version of Salon Iris, make a backup copy of your database by selecting Backup Database from the File pull-down menu. After you do this, exit (close) Salon Iris.
2. Click the download button below, to download the file and select Save, (save this file to your desktop or downloads folder). Once the file has been downloaded double click on the executable file. This version runs on Windows Vista, XP (Home or Pro), or 2003, 2008. Upgrade File Size: 88 MB
3. The Install / Set-up screen will appear. Follow the instructions on the Install / Set-up screen. Just click Next or Finish as appropriate.
4. After the update has finished, start Salon Iris. Your database will automatically be updated. (this may take several minutes) When it asks for a Version 8 serial number, depending on your situation, follow the instructions at one of the bullet points below:
a) If you are currently on a payment plan your old serial number will continue to work. You will not need a new serial number. If you just bought Version 8, select Enter Serial Number and enter the serial number located on your invoice. If you qualify for the free upgrade (your initial purchase was within the past 2 years from today's date), click on Request New Serial Number. You will request a new serial number over the Internet and it will be e-mailed back to you.
b) If you are networking computers, be sure to install the upgrade on EACH computer on the network.
If you originally purchased prior to 08-01-09, you must purchase the update. If you are unsure of your purchase date, please send an e-mail to info@saloniris.co.uk Be sure to include your complete contact information.
Salon Iris free software updates are only available within the first two years after the initial date of purchase (this includes the first payment date under any payment plan or other finance option) software updates are not available free outside this two year period.
